For over 20 years, we’ve been nurturing our small farmlet near Egmont Village, just a few kilometres from Egmont National Park. What began as open pasture has become a thriving sanctuary — with native trees, an orchard, hedgerows, and a terraced herb field that hums with bees and life.
This land is the heart of Blue Petal. It’s where we grow many of the herbs we use, guided by the seasons, supported by soil health, and inspired by both traditional knowledge and modern understanding.
Here, we cultivate not just plants, but purpose — creating herbal products that offer gentle support, sensory delight, and a meaningful connection to nature’s rhythms.
At Blue Petal, we grow a wide variety of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and traditional herbs — many of which thrive in our open herb field, while others are carefully tended in our tunnel house.
Some of the botanicals we cultivate are rare or difficult to source, and we take great joy in growing them not only for their use in our products, but also to preserve their diversity for the future.
We honour nature by recycling plant matter from the land into compost or mulch, feeding our raised beds and enriching the soil. Rainwater is harvested and stored onsite, helping us care for our gardens even during dry spells.
Living rurally means we experience occasional power cuts and wild weather, which keeps us mindful of building resilience — including alternative heating and backup power solutions — as part of our journey toward greater self-sufficiency.
